Verizon Edges Out Walmart for Scrooge of the Year(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)After a close race, union-busting telecom giant Verizon was declared the 2011 “Scrooge of the Year,” at the DC Jobs with Justice (JwJ) Winter Cabaret last Saturday. Unsuccessful Scrooge candidates included runner-up Walmart, along with Solanges Vivens and the Capital Grille.  JwJ will “celebrate” Verizon’s victory -- and the holiday season -- by singing specially-adapted holiday carols outside Verizon in DC.
