Worker and union allies plan to expose the money and influence connection between the Koch brothers and this morning’s 9:30A Capitol Hill appearance (Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2154) by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who’s testifying before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on 'State and Municipal Debt: Tough Choices Ahead.' The Koch brothers are major funders of an array of anti-worker foundations and think tanks, including The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, which will be testifying at the hearing. Progressive allies led by People For the American Way, Common Cause and Public Campaign plan to pack the hearing room, carrying signs and stickers (above right). Wisconsin workers will speak out at a 9A press event (in the hallway outside the hearing room), including Jackie McElroy, a Milwaukee nursing home worker, Ann Louise Tetreault, a 35-year nurse at UW Hospitals and Mahlon Mitchell, president of the statewide firefighters' union. Meanwhile, National Nurses United, will stage a protest starting at 10a in front of the Rayburn House Office Building (Independence Avenue between First St SW and S. Capitol St). “We invite everyone to mobilize their members and staff and join us!” says NNU’s Ken Zinn.
