Rail transport of hazardous materials, recently banned by the DC City Council, is now getting a close look by neighboring Takoma Park, where a public forum on the issue will be held this Wednesday, March 9. DC Councilmember Kathy Patterson, chief sponsor of the DC legislation, will be joined by Metropolitan Washington Council AFL-CIO President Joslyn Williams, Fred Millar, consultant on homeland security measures to Friends of the Earth and DC Council, Ed Stern, AFGE local union representing OSHA Employees  and Kevin Kamps, Nuclear Waste Specialist, Nuclear Information and Resource Service. Takoma Park Councilmember Joy Austin-Lane will moderate. The forum is from 7:30-9P at the Takoma Park Municipal Building, 7500 Maple Avenue.
