(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

The new exhibit at the George Meany Memorial Archives features eleven paintings by Carol Carter, an established St. Louis artist working primarily in large-scale watercolors and acrylics.  The exhibition is based on the rural town of Belle Glade, Florida, and includes large-scale watercolors of Belle Glades’ landscape and agricultural workers.  Carter’s goal is to educate viewers about the social consequences and human dilemmas facing Belle Glade and communities like it. The show runs through April 30 at the Meany Center, 10000 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, MD. Exhibit hours: M–Th 8A–9P; F 8A–4:30P; closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
