Last week, Hollywood had its Oscars. “Now it's our turn,” says LabourStart’s Eric Lee, announcing that voting has begun to choose the first-ever global Labour Video of the Year. “Our distinguished panel of judges has selected a shortlist of six films out of more than 200 submitted,” says Lee. “It was a difficult choice, but they've found six extraordinary films. Watching these very short videos will make you laugh and they will make you think.  And they will remind us why we are trade unionists.” Lee promises that “you are going to love seeing them -- and then showing them to your friends, co-workers, family members and fellow trade unionists.” Lee encourages activists to vote for the Labour Video of the Year and to “spread the word that there are some great little films out there and we should be making sure they get seen by thousands of working people.” The DC Labor FilmFest, which helped originate the Labour Video of the Year contest, also coordinated the judging and plans to screen a compilation of some of the contest finalists. - image from "A call to action - Trade Unions and Climate Change," one of the finalists in LabourStart's Labour Video of the Year competition
