Activism On The March

Friday, March 6, 2009

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

It’s called March for a reason. This month continues to come in like an activist lion, with a full slate of marches, rallies, blitzes and Capitol Hill hearings. Things kick off this weekend with Employee Free Choice Act Postcard blitzes coordinated by DC Jobs with Justice Saturday at the Takoma Park Metro (5:30P) and Sunday at the Georgia Avenue Safeway (12P). Then on Monday the Chamber of Commerce is targeted to “Tell Corporate CEOs: Stop Standing in the Way of an Economy That Works for Everyone” starting at 3P, followed by a Senate Hearing On The Employee Free Choice Act Tuesday morning (10A). Also on Tuesday morning Health Care For America Now! will rally outside an insurance industry meeting at 11A. Last up is Thursday’s noontime DC Jobs with Justice immigrant rights march and rally to “Turn The Tide Against Hate”.  Dust off those walkin’ shoes and see you on the line! And if there are more upcoming labor-related actions, let us know at streetheat@dclaborarchives.org.
