Longtime DC labor activist Mary Beth Maxwell is on President-Elect Obama’s shortlist for Labor Secretary, reports Jonathan Weisman on the Wall Street Journal website. “Some labor leaders from both the AFL-CIO and Change to Win…back her as a consensus choice, citing her efforts” to push for the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, Weisman reported. Maxwell – founding executive director of American Rights at Work – is being considered along with former Michigan Representative David Bonior, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius and others.
