Area Activists to Rally at McCain Fundraisers
Thursday, June 5, 2008
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
With the primary season finally over, energized area labor activists
will turn their attention to Republican presidential nominee John McCain Monday
at fundraisers in Virginia and the District of Columbia. “McCain’s stands on
working family issues like health care, the Employee Free Choice Act, Social
Security, Jim Webb’s GI Bill and the economy look suspiciously like those of
George W. Bush,” says Metro Council President Jos Williams. “The last thing
we need is more of the same,” agreed Northern Virginia CLC President Dan
Duncan. NoVa activists will rally outside a high-roller McCain fundraiser at
4:30 in Tysons Corner, while DC activists will hit his high-dollar event atop
101 Constitution Avenue at 4:45P. Click
