Recognizing Our Heroes

The many union members who quietly go the extra mile at their workplaces and communities are the backbone of our movement. Now there’s a new way to recognize these “unsung heroes.” The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region is accepting nominations for the 11th Annual Linowes Leadership Awards. Awards will be given to three “unsung heroes” of the metro DC area who give of themselves in their communities and who have not been previously recognized for their service. Award recipients will receive a $2,000 cash award and an additional $3,000 contribution to the local nonprofit community organization of their choice. Awardees will be announced in April and recognized at The Community Foundation’s “Celebration of Civic Spirit” in May. Deadline for submissions is Monday, February 11.
