Social Media Campaigns Urge Solidarity with VA Kroger Workers

Kroger, the largest supermarket chain in
the country, is now “following the lead
of
anti-worker companies like Walmart
and Harris Teeter,” says UFCW 400, which
is
coordinating a campaign supporting
Virginia Kroger workers. A
“KrogerStrong”
online
petition is gathering signatures from
thousands of supporters to “protect good
American jobs and allow workers to have a
voice!” Worker activists are also planning a
Thunderclap
and a Facebook flashmob http://act.aflcio.org/c/1822/p/salsa/web/common/public/signup?signup_page_KEY=7517
this Thursday at 11a during Kroger’s
annual shareholders meeting. Click on the links

One of the most profitable supermarket chains,
Kroger makes money “due to the hard work and
quality customer service its employees
provide,” says Local 400. “For years these
Kroger employees have had a voice on the job,
working together with management to make Kroger
a high road employer. Now Kroger is opening new
stores where they deny their employees the
right to a voice.”
