Victory At Bestway Mt. Vernon

Bestway Mt. Vernon employees are claiming victory after a final tally showed a 19-10 vote in favor of being represented by UFCW Local 400. As previously reported(Bestway Mt. Vernon Votes for Union Recognition5/2/2014), the initial vote on April 24 was 16-10 with 9 challenged votes. On May 1 the challenged ballots were opened, examined by the National Labor Relations Board and the final 19-10 vote confirmed. The next day, the company filed a challenge of the union win. “Thanks to all my coworkers for showing unity through the election process,” said Bestway Mt. Vernon employee Luis Manzanares (right). “We put our hope in God to sit at the bargaining table very soon to start negotiating our first contract! We are ready!”
