Friday, April 4, 2014(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Bargain
Wholesale workers, illegally fired by their
employer Monday “for wanting to
have dignity, respect on the job and fair
wages,” successfully turned customers
away Wednesday morning, reports UFCW Local 400. The
workers continue to push for
reinstatement. In other Local 400 news Kroger
union members yesterday attended
the grand opening of the new Kroger Marketplace
located in Henrico, Va. “We
brought tunes and cupcakes to the event to chat
with customers and employees,”
reports Local 400. “Just like store 540 in
Virginia Beach, Kroger is attempting
to have this store operate
non-union.”
