Laborers Push for Healthcare for MontCo Trash Haulers

Many of the
sanitation workers who collect residential trash in Montgomery County earn less
than $20,000 a year, reports the Mid-Atlantic Laborers. “And most of those
sanitation workers do not have health insurance because they do not earn enough
to afford it.” MALiUNA says that the Montgomery County Council is now
“considering legislation to fix this problem by ensuring that sanitation
workers who collect residential solid waste under contracts with Montgomery
County have access to affordable health insurance” and are encouraging
activists
“to speak to your friends and neighbors about supporting this legislation.”
