NoVA Labor Activists to Hit Streets Saturday(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Northern Virginia labor activists and their allies will be hitting the streets in Manassas and Ashburn this Saturday to promote Medicaid/health care expansion before the General Assembly returns to Richmond in special sessionnext Monday. “We’re just dropping door hangers, no knocking and talking,” says NoVA Labor president Dan Duncan. Meet at 9a Saturday at one of these sites: Ashburn: Machinists Lodge 1759 hall, 1037 Sterling Road, Suite 104, Herndon 20170; Manassas: IBEW Local 26 hall, 8731 Plantation Lane, Manassas 20110. And don’t forget NoVA’s monthly meeting this Thursday at 7p at 4536-B John Marr Drive, Annandale 22003. “We will have several candidates for the 8th CD Democratic Primary attending,” promises Duncan, along with tickets for NoVA’s annual Tribute to Labor Dinner on Friday, May 2, at the union-contracted McLean Hilton.
