The
Community Services Agency is one of just four nonprofits awarded grants by
Hines and the TFI US Real Estate Fund, developers of CityCenterDC, a 10-acre
parcel in the heart of the District currently being transformed into a blend of
residences, offices, shopping, restaurants, hotel and active parks. The
CityCenterDC Opportunity Grants Program awarded a total of $200,000 in one-time
grants to CSA, DC Central Kitchen, N Street Village and Urban Alliance as part
of a grant-making initiative with The Community Foundation for the National
Capital Region. “These four organizations have proven track records of
excellence and will use this funding to improve the lives of local
residents,”
said Community Foundation President Terri Lee Freeman. “This is a very
exciting
opportunity for the Building Futures program,” said CSA Executive Director
Kathleen McKirchy. “We look forward to training and placing many additional
low
income DC residents in good-paying construction apprenticeships and
jobs.”
