NoVA Labor Gears Up for Special Election This Month(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)“It wouldn’t be Virginia if we didn’t have a special election,” reports NoVA Labor president Dan Duncan. The Virginia AFL-CIO has endorsed Jennifer Wexton (right) in the race to fill Attorney General-elect Mark Herring’s Senate District 33 seat. The election will be held on Tuesday, January 21. The district covers parts of Fairfax and Loudoun Counties, and NoVA Labor will be conducting Labor-to-Labor precinct walks on Saturday, January 11, and Saturday, January 18, from Machinists Lodge 1759 at 1037 Sterling Road, Herndon 20170 (NOT the NoVA Labor office). “We need to keep this state senate seat with a labor-friendly person!” says Duncan. Doors will open at 9 am “and we’ll have the usual coffee, juice, donuts and bagels,” he promises. There will also be phone banking on Tuesday, January 14, and Monday, January 20, from the NoVA Labor office at 4563-B John Marr Drive, Annandale 22003. For more information on the Virginia GOTV efforts, contact Dolores Trevino-Gerber at the NoVA Labor office – 703-750-3633.
