Metro Council Endorses (Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

The Metro Washington Council on Monday night endorsed the fast for immigration reform that launched on November 12th in front of the U.S. Capitol. In a related action today, hundreds will walk from Arlington to the U.S. Capitol, "Crossing the Bridge for Immigration Reform", gathering at 9a at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (click here for complete details).  The Fast for Families: A Call for Immigration Reform & Citizenship is being led by community, labor, civil rights and faith leaders to focus the House of Representatives on “the moral crisis created by our broken immigration system,” say Fast organizers. Local supporters can endorse the fast, and turn out members to the nightly community meetings. “Local unions can show their support by organizing a group of their members to come to the tent at 3rd and Jefferson on the Mall for an event with Fasters,” says SEIU 32BJ’s Martin Thomas.
