Solidarity Center News: Mexican Mine Workers' Camp Destroyed; Egyptian Oilfield Workers Step Up Their Struggle

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The global labor community is speaking out against the forceful destruction of a
protest camp that Mexican workers had set up at the La Platosa mine. The workers
were decrying management’s efforts to bypass the democratically elected Los
Mineros union and instead operate with a corporate “trade union.” In Egypt,
embattled workers at the oilfield services company Schlumberger who have
struggled to exercise their right to organize since April 2011, recently
